This Summer is our biggest ever. The Player's Studio will be offering our Summer Shakespeare Intensive for ages 12 to 18 years. But we are also adding all new workshops for all ages (even adults) starting in July. We will be offering Auditioning Techniques, Basic Acting skills, Arts and Crafts and a three day Fight Choreography workshop with Trey Mikolasky from the University of the Rio Grande Valley. 1. Summer Shakespeare Intensive, June 10-28: This class is for students ages 12 to 18 years. From 10am to 1pm each day students will meet to learn and perform a Shakespeare play. From auditions, through rehearsals, and ending with a public performance on the final evening, this intensive workshop is a highlight of the TPS year. Play selection is made based on registration. Past productions have included As You Like It, The Tempest and Hamlet Gone Wrong. Cost of this camp is $250 including a $50 registration fee to hold your spot.


2. Arts and Crafts of Theatre, July 8-12: This week long workshop is for students ages 6 to 11 years. Students will create crafts and complete art projects based on the theatre. Projects include puppets, stage design and posters. The camp will meet each afternoon from 1pm to 3pm. Cost of this camp is $150 and includes all materials. This includes a $25 registration fee to hold your spot.


3. Fight Choreography with Trey Mikolasky, July 10-12: This 3 day workshop meets in the afternoons from 4pm to 6pm and will be taught by UTRGV Theatre Department head Trey Mikolasky. The work shop is open to anyone 15 years and over. Students will learn the basic techniques of planning, choreographing and safely executing a stage fight. Cost of this camp is $100. This includes a $25 registration fee to hold your spot.


4. Basic Acting for Children, July 22-26: This week long workshop is for ages 6 to 11 and will meet from 10am to 12pm each day. Students will learn basic acting techniques including vocal work, memorization skills and character development. An excellent camp for a first time actor or a young actor who wants more training. Cost of this camp is $100. This includes a $25 registration fee to hold your spot.


5. Improv, July 22-26: This week long workshop will meet from 1pm to 3pm and is for ages 12 to 18 years. Students will learn techniques in Improvisation and play lots and lots of drama games. Always a pleaser and a great skill for every actor to have. Cost of this camp is $100. This includes a $25 registration fee to hold your spot.


6. Auditioning Techniques with Nikki Rowe Theatre Director Isidro Lerma, July 22-26: This final workshop will meet from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. The class is for actors experienced or beginning, ages 12 to 18. Students will explore several styles of auditions and receive tips in how to prepare themselves. Skills include sight reading, monologues, character preparation and group work. Cost for this camp is $100. This includes a $25 registration fee to hold your spot.
